Founder and CEO

Peter Hughes founded Apex Group in 2003 with a vision to create a business that could offer an end-to-end service to clients, delivered by local experts on a global scale. Through this vision, Apex Group has continually disrupted the asset serving industry by evolving its capabilities and delivering a unique single-source solution to asset managers, allocators, family offices and financial institutions which supports the entire value chain across the financial services ecosystem. The Group harnesses leading innovative and transformative technology and benefits from cross-jurisdictional expertise delivered by a highly integrated global team of 13,000 people across 50 countries. Peter’s desire to drive positive change extends beyond asset servicing. In 2022, he provided a cornerstone donation to the Apex Foundation, a not-for-profit entity, which supports the environment and climate change; women’s empowerment and economic independence; and education & social mobility.

Chief Financial Officer

David has over 25 years of financial services experience. He joined Apex in October 2017, following the Group’s recapitalization by Genstar Capital, in order to lead the Group’s finance team throughout a period of transformational growth and expansion. Prior to joining Apex, David was CFO at Clarien Bank in Bermuda and before that Group Controller at Butterfield Bank.

Chief Product and Operations Officer

Chris joined Apex in October 2017 following the acquisition of Equinoxe Alternative Investment Services. He has over 20 years of experience leading operational strategy within the fund services industry and was brought in to Apex to optimize the global Group’s organizational and operational framework, and lead the strategic integrations of multiple businesses simultaneously.

Chief Digital Information Officer

As Chief Digital Information Officer at Apex Group, Marie is responsible for defining technology strategy to deliver business goals; driving transformation across Apex Group’s IT functions globally, executing Digital Innovation, Cloud, Data, Cyber and Modern Workplace strategic plans. Marie has 30 years’ experience in technology, over twenty being within the finance industry. Across her career, Marie has worked for major international institutions, including Group CTO for Sanne Group prior to acquisition by Apex Group, at Coventry Building Society for over four years where she was Chief Information Officer, responsible for building a technology strategy and leading the transformation; and Capital One where she acted as Chief Engineer and was a member of the IT Leadership team.

Chief Growth Officer

Renaud Oury is Chief Revenue & Data Officer, member of the Apex Group Executive Committee. He is based in Bermuda and has spent more than 25 years in the financial services and financial technology space. Renaud is responsible for generating sustainable organic growth for the Group and delivering the technologies, tools and processes to unlock the value of data and drive Apex’ expansion.

Chief Of Staff

Max is a member of the Office of the CEO and has been at Apex since 2018, initially tasked with managing Mergers and Acquisitions across the Group. As of January 2024 Max took on the additional responsibility of Chief of Staff across the Group. Max is a trained Chartered Accountant having qualified with KPMG where he worked within Corporate Finance and Restructuring substantially focused on the (re)insurance industry both in London and Bermuda.

Chief Human Resources Officer

Vikita Patel has steered and grown Apex’s Human Resources team since joining the Group in 2018. Leveraging over a decade of experience within the HR profession in the financial services industry, she has developed the HR agenda to support Apex’s strategic priorities focusing on key areas such as organisational change and culture, HR operations, reward and recognition, talent management and people analytics.

Chief Regional Officer

Georges brings over two decades of experience in law, capital markets, and fund administration to his role as Chief Regional Officer at Apex Group. He oversees global businesses responsible for P&L in asset servicing, chairs several management committees, and serves as a member of the Office of the CEO. As a dedicated people leader, Georges drives global business growth internationally and enhances client relationships and revenue streams, as well as offering guidance on company matters across various boards. From Deutsche Bank Alternative Fund Services to Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, and now Apex Group, his career reflects a commitment to excellence in financial services.

Chief Risk Officer

Andrew joined Sanne in 2019 and was appointed Chief Risk Officer for Apex upon acquisition. As CRO, Andrew is responsible for the oversight of risk-taking activities and supporting Apex in effective and efficient management of risk on an enterprise-wide basis. As a member of the Executive Committee, he is responsible for driving and developing Apex's risk framework, governance and reporting.

General Counsel

Andrew joined Apex in April 2019 to become the global Group’s General Counsel. Most recently Head of Legal at Monzo Bank, Andrew has held senior roles at several prestigious law firms including Latham & Watkins. He has extensive expertise in cross-border M&A and joins Apex at a critical time of integration following several global acquisitions.

Chief Marketing and Communications Officer (Maternity Leave)

Rosie has led and scaled the Marketing function since 2014. She runs a centralized global team across all functions and sub-brands: including both external marketing and internal communications. Rosie is also responsible for the Group’s brand, reputation and public relations and has led the communications of eleven acquisitions in addition the Group’s repositioning initiative alongside that growth.

Interim Chief Marketing and Communications Officer

Chantal joined Apex in December 2022 following the acquisition of the fund services business of Maitland International Holdings. Chantal is a highly experienced marketing expert with a track record of consistent, successful delivery and execution across complex global environments.

Global Head of Product - Financial Solutions

David has over twenty years’ experience in financial services on both the buy and sell side working with specialist firms and global banking institutions worldwide. He joined Apex in June 2018 when the Group acquired Deutsche Bank Alternative Fund Services where he spent over ten years. As Head of Financial Solutions, David leads the strategic development of the Group’s ManCo, Distribution, Banking, Custody and Depositary services.

Global Head of Product - Closed-Ended Funds

Elaine has over 17 years of experience in financial services. She spent 12 years in the Alternative Investment Services Sector and has joined Apex as part of the Deutsche Bank AFS acquisition. Elaine heads up the delivery of PE fund administration and product development for the Americas region.

Chief Integrations Officer

Barry is Chief Transformation and Integrations Officer and a member of the Apex Group Executive Committee. Barry’s focus is on successfully and efficiently integrating newly acquired businesses as Apex continues to deliver returns through organic and inorganic expansion. Barry commenced his 20 year career in financial services as a corporate lawyer in Johannesburg in 2001 followed by 16 years in investment banking in London. During this time he was involved in a significant number of UK and cross-border equity capital market and M&A transactions. Most recently Barry was Head of J.P. Morgan’s UK and SSA Equity Capital Markets business which led the majority of the UK tech IPOs in recent years and consistently achieved the top market share.

Chief Compliance Officer

Philip joined in April 2023 to become Apex Group’s Chief Compliance Officer. Philip has over 20 years of international financial services experience and has held senior roles both at regulators in Europe and the UK as well as in the asset management and fund services industry including at IQ-EQ, Fidelity International, GAM and Nikko Asset Management.

Global Head of Product - Open-Ended Funds

Jon joined Apex in December 2022 following the acquisition of the fund services business of Maitland International Holdings. Jon has two decades of international financial services experience in the Fund Services and related Technology domains. As a product head, Jon leads the strategic development of the Open Ended Product encompassing new product development and product model optimisation for alternate and traditional funds.

Global Head of Client Experience

Rhea has over 25 years’ experience in financial services, 18 years of which in Alternative Investment Services. Rhea joined Apex in August 2022 when the Group acquired Sanne Group PLC. As Head of Client Experience, Rhea leads our client oversight framework and client engagement and feedback initiatives.

Head of Client Relationship Management

Gary has 18 years experience in Alternatives Asset Management operations. Held senior positions in Apex as Head of Private Equity for Luxembourg and Operations Director in Jersey sitting on the regulated board. Gary is an experienced board director specializing in Private Equity, Venture and Credit. Gary leads our Relationship Management team globally ensuring our clients are fully supported from our Single Source Solution.

Regional Head of Asia Pacific

Nick is Regional Head of Asia Pacific, and a member of the Apex Group Executive Committee. Nick joined as part of Apex Group’s Acquisition of Mainstream Group in 2021 where he was also the Managing Director for the Asia Pacific business. Nick brings extensive knowledge of the funds industry and is responsible for overseeing the business in the region.

COO Luxembourg

Kavitha joined the Apex Group in December 2022 following its acquisition of Maitland. She is part of the Apex Group Executive Committee and has regional responsibility as Chief Operating Officer - Luxembourg . Kavitha is a qualified accountant and has over 25 years’ experience in the financial industry with a key focus on investment funds & related products. She serves on the Board of Directors of ALFI - The Association of Luxembourg Fund Industry and other Luxembourg domiciled investment funds. She has held leadership positions within Maitland and helped build the pan -European institutional funds business - establishing the AIFM in addition to help outsourcing and overseeing the fund administration business within the Group.

Global Head of Ops India and India Country Head

Akshay Thakurdesai has significant years of leadership experience in IT, Operations, Product and Business Development across Securities Services and Global markets business lines. Akshay previously led the securities services business for BNP Paribas in India prior to being the COO for the banks global markets business. He started his career in KPIT Cummins, Pune working on Deutsch Bank and BNP Paribas's projects shifting later to Chennai in pilot team setting up and grow BNP Paribas's offshore center servicing Asset Fund Services and Custody franchise. He has extensive work exposure in Pune, Chennai, Mumbai, Hongkong and Paris, and well versed with English, French apart from Indian languages.

Global Head of Product - Transfer Agency

Bringing over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, Garth joined the Apex team in April 2023 to spearhead the strategic product development of their Transfer Agency Services. Previously, as the CEO of Silica Holdings, Garth successfully led the company through its acquisition by the FNZ Group in April 2021 and later assumed the role of Global Head of TA Services for the FNZ Group. Prior to being appointed as the CEO for Silica, a position he held since September 2017, Garth fulfilled the role of CIO, after spending his first year growing Silica’s platform solutions business. Garth was part of the Standard Bank of South Africa Group from 2003 until joining Silica in August 2014. During this time, he took on various roles including Director of Retail Operations at STANLIB, CIO and Business Change Executive at Liberty Life and CIO of the Transactional Products and Services business unit at Standard Bank.

Deputy Chief Product and Operations

Mirana joined Apex Group in 2011 and has over 15 years’ experience in leadership within the Fund Services industry in Hong Kong, Mainland China and London. As Group Deputy CPO & COO, Mirana oversees product and operation functions and is responsible for growing Apex Group’s products and optimising operational efficiency. Prior to her current role, Mirana was the Managing Director for the Greater China business. Mirana is a Certified Accountant in Hong Kong and Chartered Financial Analyst.

Super Regional Head of Europe

With over 25 years of experience in the financial services industry, Navita brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to our team. Her expertise spans various global markets, with a focus on Europe and Asia. Navita has held numerous senior roles throughout her career, demonstrating a strong track record of driving profit growth and operational excellence.

Global Head of Client Strategic Transformation

Richard is responsible for driving client strategic initiatives that enhance our service delivery and partnership value to our clients, in line with their business needs. He joined as part of Apex Group’s acquisition of Sanne in 2022 where he was Global Head of Product. Richard has over 25 years of financial services experience across leadership, client relationship management, sales, product and finance roles at Sanne, Morgan Stanley, Bank of America Merrill Lynch and KPMG.

Regional Head of North America

As a global business leader Sanjay brings over 25 years’ experience to this position. He previously served as Managing Director at Citi, BlackRock, State Street and Merrill Lynch. He brings a wealth of industry knowledge, having been instrumental in evolving the financial markets across the Americas and internationally, specifically India and Singapore. Sanjay has previously presided as Chairman of multiple industry committees, at Bond Market Association, Asset Management Forum and Securities Industry Association.

Group Company Secretary (and Exco Secretariat)

Tej joined the Group in 2019 and is a commercially orientated Executive and Chartered Governance professional with substantial experience in risk management, investment and financing. As the Group Company Secretary, Tej oversees the Group’s complex corporate structure. His previous experience includes Executive roles in the Credit and Oil and Gas industries in both public and private environments where Tej has worked through major restructuring projects, including an IPO and RTO process.

Global Head of Organisational Effectiveness

Peter has a career of over 30 years in consulting and international financial services including with HSBC, AIB, AIG and Nordea. Peter has a proven track record of building best in class HR capabilities, with a focus on developing technology, data insight and scaling HR solutions. Peter has an international profile and has worked extensively across Asia, Latin America, the USA and Europe.

Global Head of Governance and Internal Audit

Nitin joined Apex in 2016 and has over 34 years’ experience with specialization in management & enterprise risk consulting, governance and audit. He was a senior partner with Big 4 firms before joining Apex and his work experience spans across 4 continents. He has played key role in laying down governance and internal control framework of Apex. As the Group Chief Internal Auditor, Nitin is responsible to ensure the 3rd Line of Defence is operating effectively in providing independent assurance to the Group Board and Audit Committee on the design and operating effectiveness of overall control framework. He is also member of the Group Whistleblowing Committee and responsible to monitor good corporate Governance Framework.

Aman is responsible for building and overseeing Apex Group’s growth across all product lines globally. With 20+ years of experience in financial services, Aman joined Apex in 2018 through the transition of Deutsche Bank’s Alternative Fund Services business, where he was a member of the business’ Management Team. Prior to this, he ran Strategy for Deutsche Bank’s Securities Services franchise covering a range of organic & inorganic initiatives. Previously, Aman was with Citigroup in various roles across Investment Banking and Capital Markets. Aman has an MBA from London Business School, and an A.B. from University of Michigan – Ann Arbor.

Head of Financial Planning and Analysis

Robin Frueholz joined Apex in July 2019 as Head of Financial Planning and Analysis with the responsibility of delivering Planning, Forecasting and Results reviews. Robin has over 15 years experience in financial services in FP&A, Controllership and Finance Transformation.

Global Head of Fund Operations

Ken Fullerton brings a wealth of experience to his role as Global Head of Operational Transformation, with 19 years at SS&C GlobeOp Fund Administration, where he served as Chief Operating Officer. His expertise spans all key aspects of fund administration including investor services, fund accounting, and operations across the Americas, Europe, and APAC regions. Based in New York, Ken is now focused on leading initiatives that enhance technology and business processes, while also overseeing the management of our Global Service Centres.

Chief Accounting Officer and Global Head of Finance

Simon Gatland joined Apex in 2019 as the Group Financial Controller from Goldman Sachs in London. Simon has global responsibility for building out policies, controls and processes underpinning strong accounting and reporting throughout the group, including overseeing and monitoring an effective control environment and providing strategic information and advice to the executive management team across both existing businesses and new acquisitions.

Global Head of Digital Products

Odi has over 25 years of financial services and technology experience. He is responsible for Apex’s Digital Products Group, the group’s fintech and software division. He also Chairs the investment panel and committee of the Apex investment consulting business. Prior to joining Apex, Odi was the COO and Head of Data & Analytics of a UK listed financial services business. Previous roles include, CEO of an institutional investment consultant in the UK, head of the alternative investment group at a global rating agency and manager at the Canadian financial institutions regulator. He is an Actuary and holds, a degree in Actuarial Science and Mathematical Statistics.

Managing Director of Apex Invest

John Papesh is the Managing Director at Apex Invest in Abu Dhabi, focusing on capital raising, advisory, and distribution for Apex Group. With a rich career spanning over 30 years, John previously founded his own advisory firm and held significant roles including Managing Director and Head of International Distribution at a leading investment bank, as well as Head of Business Development & Distribution for an investment firm backed by Soros Fund Management and Credit Suisse.

Head of ESG Product

Andy has over 24 years’ experience in the financial markets sector, most recently running global distribution in the sustainable investments division of Deutsche Asset Management. Having joined Apex in September 2019, Andy has specific responsibility for driving the Group’s strategic ESG development.

Group Treasurer

Marcus joined Apex in 2019 as Group Treasurer. With over 15 years’ experience, Marcus drives and maintains the financial health of the business and oversees all aspects of financial management. Over his career he has held various roles from financial institutions to consumer brands.

Global Head of Hedge Funds

David joined Apex in December 2018 and as Global Head of Hedge Fund Products is responsible for the development of the Group’s funds service solutions for open-ended funds globally. David has over twenty years’ experience in the alternative investment space across operations, asset management and business development.

Frank has 25 years of experience within senior management roles in the investment industry, with focus on Business and Strategic Development, Reorganisations and turn-around management, M&A, and Portfolio Management.

Chief Executive Officer, EDB

David has close to 30 years experience in financial services. He spent his entire career in asset servicing and asset management, based in Luxembourg, London and Brussels. After spending the first few years of his career in operations, he covered a number of client facing roles, as well as general management since 2010. In April 2022, he joined EDB, entered the Board of Directors in May and took on the CEO role in June.

Arnaud joined FundRock in 2020 and is Managing Director of FundRock Distribution. He has more than 25 years of experience as an EMEA institutional business developer and relationship manager in London. Arnaud has had an extensive exposure to and knowledge of portfolio management, strategic asset allocation, LDI/CDI, capital market and Fintech. Prior to joining FundRock, he worked at Sumitomo Mitsui DS Asset Management where he was Head of European Business Development and Client Relations, and before worked at Insight Investment as a Sales director, Pareto Investment and Wellington Management International. Arnaud is a Swiss citizen and fully qualified CFA® charterholder.

Glyn Gibbs joined Apex Fund Services in October 2015 bringing with him over 30 years of industry experience in both Corporate and Institutional roles within the asset management industry. Glyn has extensive experience of managing relationships with sovereign entities, asset managers, pension funds, family offices, banks, brokers and corporates.

Heading up our HR Consulting service line, Rachel brings over 20 years senior operational and strategic HR and Organisational Development experience gained in the consulting, financial services, healthcare and technology sectors. She gained valuable insight from within large global corporates such as BNP Paribas and VISA International to UK grown Companies such as Simplyhealth. In addition, Rachel has a wealth of experience of supporting startups and SMEs from previously running her own Consultancy Company. This knowledge and breadth of experience enables her to fully assess and understand customer needs in relation to their position, size, maturity, journey and plans. Rachel is Chartered MCIPD.

Global Head of Product- External Compliance Services

Jude is responsible for the delivery and development of regulatory solutions and compliance services to clients. Jude joined Apex in 2022 following the acquisition of Sanne where she held the position of Regional Head of Compliance for Asia-Pacific and deputised for the Global Head of Compliance. Jude has 18 years of global financial regulatory experience in banking, securities and investments, alternative assets, and fund administration.

Chief of Digital Asset Funds and Business

Prior to joining Apex, Bruce was Executive Vice President and Chief Wealth Management Officer of an offshore bank, responsible for Private Banking, Trust, Investment Management, brokerage, ILS, SPAC and ETF listing and syndication. This included listing and syndicating three crypto ETF and creating an offshore Robo-advisory platform and service. Bruce holds an Honors bachelor’s degree in business administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario (HBA). He is a CFA charter holder. He has been an IIROC, OSC, Series 7 and 63 registrants, performing the role of CDO in Canada and US.

Head of Business Services UK

Kerry joined Throgmorton in 2010. Starting her career with HMRC Kerry now uses her 16 years of tax and commercial experience to understand the challenges of businesses to assist clients obtain the maximum from their relationship with us. Kerry focuses on building the business through knowledge, expanding networks, creating positive introductions and seeking a creative and collaborative environment.

Valerie joins Apex from SANNE GROUP to continue leading the firm’s growth and performance across the APAC region. Valerie is a qualified Lawyer with a broad range of skills and experience, she is well positioned to lead Apex across APAC and continue to deliver its single-source solution.

Global Head of Middle Office

Alan runs the global middle office business which is comprised of 8 separate business lines. He has 22 years' experience in the Alternative Investment Industry working with a wide range of clients from institutional Pension funds to some of the biggest Hedge Fund clients. Previous to Apex, Alan was part of the 3 person ExCO of Equinoxe Alternative Services. Previous to this he has held roles at JP Morgan. FundParters NV and State Street. Alan believes key to success of the Middle Office business is to create reusable processes and systems but recognize that not one size fits all clients, and creating innovative solutions around the client is key to Apex success.

Chief Business Development Officer, Americas

Nicholas brings more than 25 years of experience as a financial services executive, with Managing Director titles at SS&C Technologies, Addepar and BlackRock. He holds extensive experience in financial technology as a member of the team that launched BlackRock’s Aladdin business and held several leadership roles during his tenure there. Nicholas will be driving the growth of Apex’s business development efforts through new partnerships, brand development, product strategy and regional expansions.

Global Head of ManCo

Evert joined Apex in November 2022. He is based in the Netherlands and has over 20 years of experience in international financial services. Before joining Apex, he spent over 17 years with Intertrust where he oversaw the growth and development of their Global Corporate Services Line. At Apex, Evert’s responsibility will be to innovate, enhance and develop our corporate and business services products for our global client base.
